Burns Cottage, Ayr

Robert Burn's Cottage, Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland
Robert Burns (1759-1796) has grown to be far more than Scotland's national poet. A great many around the world people view him as a symbol for world peace, he was a source of inspiration to many including the early pioneers of liberalism and socialism, he is generally regarded as one of the pioneers of the Romantic movement, but most of all he stands as a symbol of Scottish national identity and is, respectfully, referred to as Scotland's favourite son, - not bad for the son of a small farmer! Today Burn's Night is virtually a national day (25th January) and Burn's suppers are enthusiastically enjoyed around the world.
